Jackie L. Woodside

Woodside, 85, of Hughesville, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.She was born on Sept. 8, 1932, in Penn Township, a daughter of the late Arthur and Emma (Clark) Shaner.Jackie loved watching her grandsons' wrestling matches when they were in school. She always enjoyed going to the Angus Inn, serving coffee and talking with the patrons and the gas workers. She also enjoyed attending her great-grandson’s baseball games, but most of all, she loved being with her family and friends. Jackie was employed at several local supermarkets and retired from Giant in Williamsport.She is survived by: four daughters, Carol Woodside, of Hughesville, Jane (Doug) Welsh, of Guys Mills, and Bonnie Gordner and Diane Mead, both of Unityville; a son, Donald Woodside, of Hughesville, and fiancé, Jammie, of Benton; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Miller, of Hughesville; and a brother, Gerald (Glenna) Shaner, of Hughesville.In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by three sisters, Eleanor Fry, Zelda Barto, and Sylvia Fry; four brothers, Mike, Lyle, Grant, and Earl Shaner; a granddaughter, Randie Sue Gordner; a great-granddaughter, Teresa Watts; and a son-in-law, Earl Gordner Sr.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Max L. Walters Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Jackie’s memory to the Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery Association, c/o Reba Fry, 149 Frymire Hollow Road, Hughesville, PA 17737.Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.mccartythomas.com.
